Private Andean Expeditions Curated by Field Specialists for Deep Discovery
Why We Built Kordillera
Our team brings an unusual level of formal education to expedition travel, with backgrounds in medicine, biology, history, geography, environmental engineering, and field guiding. That depth matters in the Andes, where a journey is never just a route—it is altitude, weather, ecology, culture, history, logistics, recovery, and judgment.
We do not sell generic itineraries. We design private journeys from field experience, primary knowledge, and personal immersion. We have walked the high páramos, climbed the highest mountains, crossed cloud forests, studied Andean and Amazonian ecosystems, practiced expedition medicine, and built trusted relationships with the people who know these landscapes best.
Every trail, lodge, guidue is chosen deliberately—not for convenience, but for meaning.
Kordillera is for travelers who want more than access. It is for those who want context, depth, beauty, solitude, and a more intelligent way into the Andes.
Not tourism as consumption. Travel as inquiry.

The People Behind the Judgment
Dr. Leo Montejo
Founder · Expedition Medicine · High-Altitude Judgment Leo is a physician with Harvard and Stanford training, expedition medical experience, and a lifelong relationship with mountains. His role at Kordillera is to shape how we think about altitude, physiology, pacing, recovery, and risk. He helps design journeys around the difference between what is possible and what is wise.
Pancho Pulluquitin
Lead Guide · Environmental Engineer · Andean Field Expertise Pancho combines professional Andean guiding with formal training in environmental engineering, an uncommon pairing in expedition travel. He brings local mountain knowledge, technical understanding of terrain and ecosystems, and years of experience moving through remote Andean environments. He helps us read the mountain, the route, the weather, and the land itself.
Carlota Fenes
Founder · History · Geography · Travel Design Carlota brings formal training in history and geography from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, with additional travel studies from the Universitat de Barcelona. She gives Kordillera its sense of place, rhythm, culture, hospitality, and detail. Her work ensures that each journey feels considered, not packaged.
