THE LONELIEST SPOT
After seeing the crowds on Everest, perhaps it is time to rediscover what mountaineering was meant to be.
Silence.
Not queues.
Not fixed ropes stretching to the horizon.
Not summit traffic jams.
Just a mountain, a sky, a route, and the people willing to walk it.
This photograph was taken on Chimborazo, Ecuador.
At 6,263 meters, Chimborazo’s summit is the point on Earth’s surface farthest from the center of the planet.
The highest point on Earth.
And exactly where one would expect to find solitude.
Mountaineering was never about standing where everyone else stands.
It was about going where few choose to go.
Kordillera Lonely Expeditions.
Mountaineering Rediscovered.
