Most climbers think the cold is the problem.
In the Andes, the problem often starts much earlier:
with sweat.
A base layer is not designed to keep you warm.
Its primary job is to manage moisture while you move.
The mistake is dressing for the summit temperature during the ascent:
too much insulation,
too little venting,
too much effort too early.
You sweat.
The layer wets out.
Then the wind rises,
the pace slows,
or the descent begins.
Now the mountain takes the heat back.
Arctic cultures understood this long ago:
staying dry matters more than feeling warm.
Thermoregulation is dynamic.
Manage heat early.
Manage moisture continuously. Kordillera #Cordillera #AndesThermoregulation #BaseLayer #Mountaineering #Andes #Alpinism #Thermoregulation #Layering #MountainSafety #HighAltitude #ClimbSmart #Expedition #HumanPerformance #MoistureManagement #MerinoWool #ColdWeatherSystems #MountainKnowledge
