Antisana – Ecuador’s Wild Andean Giant
Antisana, standing at 5,704 meters, is one of Ecuador’s most striking and remote volcanoes. Its dramatic glaciers, rugged slopes, and sweeping highland vistas make it a dream destination for adventurous mountaineers and nature enthusiasts.
Set within Antisana Ecological Reserve, the region offers more than just climbing. From high-altitude páramo grasslands and glacial lakes to abundant wildlife including Andean condors and vicuñas, every step immerses you in Ecuador’s
untamed beauty.
Your expedition begins in Quito, a city celebrated for its colonial architecture and vibrant culture, before venturing into Antisana’s pristine landscapes. Early days include acclimatization climbs on nearby peaks and exploration of
the reserve’s stunning scenery, preparing you for the main summit.
The summit push typically starts around midnight, guiding you under a starry sky toward Antisana’s peak. After several hours, you’ll reach the summit, greeted by breathtaking sunrise views over Ecuador’s volcanic chain—an unforgettable
Andean panorama.
This 12-day expedition provides ample time for acclimatization, technical training, and full immersion in Ecuador’s mountains and culture. Expert guides, safety-focused planning, and comfortable accommodations ensure
