THE AMAZON PACK
Part 6 of 10 in Pack for the Mission.
The Amazon changes the packing problem again. Warmth is usually not the limiting factor. Heat, rain, insects, sweat, mud, river crossings, and keeping essential gear dry become the priorities.
Long sleeves and long pants protect skin from insects, scratches, and wet vegetation. Rubber boots or water shoes protect feet in mud and standing water. Dry bags and waterproof phone pouches keep electronics, clothing, and documents usable. Insect repellent, sunscreen, headlamp, spare batteries, electrolytes, water, and a small first-aid kit all serve practical roles in a hot, wet environment.
The Amazon pack is about staying functional. Comfort depends less on carrying more gear and more on managing moisture, hydration, insects, and visibility.
For Kordillera, the Amazon is not an add-on after the mountains. It is part of the same expedition logic: prepare for the environment you are entering.
Pack for heat, rain, insects, and water everywhere.
